My Day at Pre-school

TIME LOOK WHAT I CAN DO PARNETS/CARERS

Start of session

8.45 or 12.30

When I first arrive I can find my peg with my name and picture on, hang up my coat and bag, put my book bag and Lunch box in the correct boxes. We encourage children to explore their independence, identify their own name and practice putting coats on and off.  You can help your child by encouraging them to do it themselves.

Busy Fingers

Then I will choose a Busy Fingers activity from the selection laid out. This helps to develop fine motor skills which are important for writing.

Tidy up time

9.05 or 12.50

When I hear the tambourine jingling I will stop what I’m doing and wiggle my fingers in the air.

We listen to the Tidy Up music whilst we tidy the toys away and find a space to sit on the carpet.

Taking part in tidying away the toys that we have played with are crucial social skills and they make Preschool life fair and stress-free.

Adult Led Activity

(AL)

9.15 or 1.00

I will go with my Keyworker to do an activity in a small group. These activities develop my skills and extend my learning. Keyworker activities are adult led and focus on each individual child's development to extend their learning and skills.

Child Initiated Learning

(CIL)

9.30 or 1.15

I can choose how and what I learn now. I can play in the Home Corner/ the Mark Making Area/ the Book Corner or I can go outside and play with the Construction or the Messy Play Activities etc.

The activities available will be rotated and varied to develop different skills and they will be available inside and outside. The key point is your child chooses what they want to do and where they play.

Snack Time

10.00 onwards or 1.45 onwards

When I’m hungry I can go and sit at the snack table with an adult and have a healthy snack and drink. A rolling snack is available for children when they’re ready. All children will be encouraged to have something to eat and drink during this time.

Tidy Up Time

11.20 or 3.05

When I hear the tambourine jingling I will stop what I’m doing and wiggle my fingers in the air. We will listen to the Tidy Up music whilst we tidy the toys away. Taking part in tidying away the toys we’ve played with are crucial social skills and they make Preschool life fair and stress-free.

Storytime

11.30 or 3.15

I will sit in a group with my friends and show good listening whilst we listen to a story and sing my favourite songs. Strong listening skills are fundamental building blocks for learning phonics and being prepared for school.

Hometime

11.45 or 3.30

(12.30 if staying for lunch)

If I stay for lunch I will go to the lunch table to have my lunch or wait until my parent/ carer arrives to collect me and listen for my teacher to call my name. To ensure the children's safety we encourage them to wait on the carpet until a member of staff calls their name.
